TOWN PLANNING AND URBAN DESIGN
Steering urban development through the minefield of regulatory compliance is a feat requiring specialist expertise. High levels of knowledge, experience and analysis are essential. Utilising the professional skills of town planning or urban planning, urban design and architecture, we advise private and public sector clients on the development and management of the built environment. From regulation to litigation, our expert town planners handle all aspects of the approvals process. For private sector clients, we prepare applications and assessments of compliance with planning controls. For local and state authorities, we prepare the policies, guidelines and rules by which development will be assessed. Projects submitted for the approval of NSW local or state authorities require statements of environmental effects including detailed analysis of planning control compliance. We produce these statements for private and public sector clients.
Securing approvals requires us to negotiate with state and local authorities, community groups and objectors. To explain planning proposals and building plans, resolve issues, and explore avenues for mediation, we arrange and conduct workshops and public meetings to facilitate effective community involvement.
Litigation in the NSW Land and Environment Court may be the approval process of last resort. Sometimes it is the only viable path to approval. Acting as expert for a single party or joint parties, we provide support for litigation.
